I do not believe in collapse of industrial civilization or gigantic die-off of most of the human population. It's all nonsense to me, definitely I'm not a Doomer! I do not shop til I drop - well, maybe I should...
Last week we had some rain falling. It wasn't that much but Alaska Highway could not handle it...
and fell apart in a few places. I can get to work all right but many parts of the highway are closed. Delivery trucks are put on hold and our grocery stores are getting pretty empty:
Now I wish I was just a little Doomer... I have a bread maker and enough in my cupboards, fridge and freezer to survive another couple weeks - hopefully the highway will be fixed by then.
So long my friends,
Evalina
gosh .. hope they can get it fixed quick ... other wise it will be the red cross parcels dropping in .... take care won't you ... love mouse xxxxx
ReplyDeleteI'm sure it will all be back to normal very soon. We've had strange weather here as well with flash floods and gale force winds - so much for flaming June!! Keep safe.
ReplyDeleteWow, those are empty store shelves! Hopefully the highway will be repaired quickly - or at least enough to let traffic through. Take good care of yourself.
ReplyDeleteYou can be sure if everyone kept their heads the shelves wouldn't be so empty quite so soon. People panic-buy at the merest hint of shortages.
ReplyDeleteHope the situation resolves itself speedily for you!
Otherwise, ask an 'old-timer' what they did before the electronic age - you may be surprised at their resourcefulness !
Yowza! I hope things return to a steadier home for y'all soon!

Hope things improve soon. Hubby used to work in Kemano prior to its demise and food had to be flown in or came in by boat.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing that photo. Mother nature can be feisty.
Very scary!! Hope things get back to normal soon!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to see the shelves so empty...I hope they sort it all out, and quickly :)
ReplyDeletewow this is scary--i hope things get better very soon!
ReplyDeleteWow, that's scary. I hope they get it fixed soon. Can you go in the other direction for food and necessities?
ReplyDeleteThe same happens here in Norway, but not due to weather. Here the stores empty out because of a "STRIKE" This is the time of year when most everyone is on strike....It was dairy products last week and teachers, wondering what it will be next?
ReplyDeleteI've never seen a store that bare! That would be a scary site, but like you, I have plenty to live off of in my pantry and freezer for weeks, if not months!
ReplyDeleteJust read your newest post (catching up!) and I have to say I'm glad that it's getting fixed. I would be panicky if that happened here!!
ReplyDeleteyeah but then when Brisbane flooded last year you couldn't get milk or bread at the shops because everyone bought up and all the flour and long life milk was still there. Sometimes people have no sense.
