My man is home!!!

Finally he came home on Christmas Eve!!! And that made my Christmas a very special one.

Terri was my exchange partner in Sock it to me Santa and she sent to me a lovely package (there was more chocolates but I ate them before I took the picture). Thank you so much Terri.

In my ILCS group we have a lovely Rene who is very ill. Many of us stitching in her honor.

I know that she loves Shiver me Timber, so I decided to stitch it for her.

Also I remember that couple of years ago she started to stitch The gift of an eagle feather for her husband. Last year she really tried to finish it but never did... Yesterday I bought this kit and will try to stitch for her. I know that she will be thrilled. Here is the pic of the project:

2010 is almost over, just a few days left.  I would like to wish you a very happy New Year! May the 2011 be the best year ever!!!

Bless This House is finished!!!!

After a very cold few days

we had a quite pleasant  "warm" weekend. A planned so many things to have done... it never happened - days are way to short! The only thing that I've done is a lot of stitching - my "Bless this house" by Nancy Rossi (the cover says: design by Sandy Orton and the chart says: design by Nancy Rossi - go figure! I thing the chart is right and the cover has a mistake... )

I stitched this piece on antique white evenweave with DMC 312. Now I have to find some fabric for the back and make a bell pull.

And I can go back to my cardinal, maybe he will be done before Christmas.

Not so stitchy update

Happy Tuesday my friends!

I was working a whole weekend and I do not have any new WIP updates to show you. But I've captured a miracle of the sunrise!

Looking to the east - the lake is almost frozen (that picture was taken last Sunday, today the lake is solid frozen 'cuz the temps dropped down to -25 C) and the sky is on fire.

And looking to the north-west:

a gorgeous full moon with clouds reflecting delicate pink.

With moments like that I know why I love living here - for the beauty of the nature and highways with no traffic.

And my Christmas cactus is in the bloom! My fingers are very itchy to stitch some Christmas ornaments!!!

My man is coming home!

Freddy went to Ontario just for a couple of weeks. Now, six and a half weeks later, he announced that he is coming back - next week... we'll see...

In the mean time I figured that since I'm home alone it is a great time to sort and organize my stash. I'm so sorry I started this project (you do not want to see a picture of my house right now!) I think it will take me 'til Christmas to have it all sorted and organized. I didn't realize how much I have... On the other hand, I have a blast! I "discovered" so many charts and kits that I've forgot I had!!!

And I was stitching a little, here is my progress on the Love and Bless this house:

Love

Bless this house

Bless this house is so close to being finished, I think it will be done before my man comes back! Unfortunately I agreed to work this weekend and that will eat up my stitching time, on the other hand - I definitely can use extra cash before Christmas!

Don't forget to visit Shelley, she has an awesome giveaway!!!

I've been stitching!!!

After being sick for a few days during the week I had a very relaxing Saturday. No fever, no migraine - it felt really good!!! I was stitching a little my cardinal

and a lot Bless this house

Tomorrow is my UFO (Great Spirit) day and maybe I will find a little time to put a few stitches on so neglected Provence... It will be hard because my Santas arrived yesterday and I really need my will power to stay focus on current projects. I love Santas!!!

Cheerleaders wanted!!!

Me and Kelly of I love Cross Stitch have a little challenge/competition going on where UFO's are on the table. I challenged Kelly to finish her Midnight Enchanter and Celtic Summer and I dare myself to finish Bless this house, Provence and my oldest UFO. The one who finishes first will get a prize from the other. So here is where your help is needed - please cheer for us so we can stay motivated!

It took me a while to find my oldest UFO... from the darkness of the bottom of a drawer I brought to light Great Spirit. Age - unknown, floss used - unknown, why there is not enough edges left - unknown, when it became UFO - unknown... It was cover with a film of an old age... so I had to give him a bath

with my heart going 100 miles per hour I used Oxi Clean - and to my biggest surprise it did an awesome job!

There is not much stitching left there, just a little on the border and, of course, back stitching and beading. The problem is that the chart has missing corner with symbols legend... it must be my little Brandie misbehaving when she was a puppy (Brandie died 6 years ago) - the bottom line is that I must match colors close enough so there is not an obvious difference.

Here is my little progress on Bless this house:

Exchanges received

I received couple lovely card from Terri

and beautiful ornament from SusanMarie

Thank you so much ladies!

And this is a card I sent to Terri

I made her another one, but completely forgot to take a picture of it before sending... and I did an ornament for SusanMarie and I took a picture of it but could not find it this morning... cross my heart, I will look for it and I will share it with you.

So long friends,

another week went by

and I have an update! This week I was stitching Bless this house and this is what I've done:

I did not work on Provence at all, instead I started a new ornament

when it is done it will look like this:

Freddy is a third week in Ontario and I'm starting to miss him a lot. It is crossing his mind to move there, but believe me or not, this time I'm not quite ready. We lived in Ontario before coming to the west coast and eventually the north. There is something stopping me... maybe I'm just getting old...

Have a great week everyone!

It's Monday!

And a short update - I've been stitching all week long! I even decided to put my WIPs in rotation... Here is my progress on Bless This house:

The other WIP was Provence. The progress doesn't seem to be a huge one but these little roosters are stitched on 28 ct evenweave over 1. It almost blinded me! Thank goodness I have only 2 more to go...

Good luck and so long my friends,

Happy Thanksgiving Canada!!!

Did you know that the history of Thanksgiving in Canada goes back to an explorer, Martin Frobisher, who had been trying to find a northern passage to the Pacific Ocean? Frobisher's Thanksgiving was not for harvest but homecoming. He had safely returned from a search for the Northwest Passage, avoiding the later fate of Henry Hudson and Sir John Franklin. In the year 1578, he held a formal ceremony in Newfoundland to give thanks for surviving the long journey. The feast was one of the first Thanksgiving celebrations by Europeans in North America. Frobisher was later knighted and had an inlet of the Atlantic Ocean in northern Canada named after him — Frobisher Bay.

Today, I'm spending my Thanksgiving all alone. Freddy is in Ontario and he will stay there to the end of the month. So... can you guess what I will do today? Of course! I will stitch!!! It looks like it will be a nice, crispy, sunny day in the Yukon - I will take Topaz for a long walk. And since I'm on the topic of stitching... I have a finish! I decided to finish my chickens as a wall hanging. I'm not a 100% satisfied with my finishing quality but it is my first ever attempt to make a hanging.

I came across a very cute design that I had to have it! I just finish stitching it and I think it will make a very nice bell pull, what do you think?

That's not all! I also finished a little blue square for my swap:

This square is a fragment of Nancy Rossi design - Bless this house.

It is a lovely design and since I enjoyed stitching part of it I decided to do a whole thing. Later on (today!) I will share with you my progress on this new WIP.

Happy Thanksgiving to all Canadians!!!
