Celebrate the small things

Spring must be somewhere in the world but not here yet... Nights are still very cold but days are amazing - blue sky and sunshine! And they are very looong - soon there will be no darkness at all!
Here is a pic of Marsh Lake taken a few minutes ago, still solid frozen. I was trying to capture my Frosty Girl but she was having way to much fun in the snow - did not stop for a second!

And I stitched a little! Here is progress on the Vultures Welcome and Rabbit Run:

I absolutely love that racing rabbit. While stitching it I realized that rabbits make me happy but I have no idea why... Rabbit Run is my new start, I just could not resist that chart. And isn't only me. Vickie of stitchymcfloss fell in love with that chart too and it looks like we will have a little SAL going.

Last Wednsday of the month

and time to show you my little projects. I actually did finish my March ornament

One of those days I will turn them into ornaments... it also cross my mind another idea - I think they will look lovely as a quilt. Yesterday I've signed up for a beginner quilting classes, will see how I can manage my sewing machine...

Say goodbye to dementia

Wouldn't it be great if we could say we found a cure for the most ugly disease that turns normal people to wackos and eventually kills them?

This week we're celebrating The 2014 National Wormhole Week  hosted by fantastic authors - Stephen Tremp, Alex Cavanaugh and L. Diane Wolfe. Whole weekend I was thinking what I should write about and then I had a light bulb moment - nanotechnology!

According to Alzheimer Society Canada

  • As of 2010, more than 35.6 million people worldwide are living with dementia, or more than the total population of Canada.
  • The global prevalence of dementia stands to double every 20 years, to 65.7 million in 2030, and 115.4 million in 2050.
  • Total health-care costs for people with dementia amount to more than 1 per cent of the global gross domestic product (GDP), or US$604 billion in 2010.
Scary, eh? Now, just imagine... there is a tiny pill with tiny little robots inside, all kinds of robots. Some are designed to work in your guts, some in the arteries, longs, kidneys, liver, pancreas, heart and finally the brain. You swallow the pill and they start working without you realizing what's going on in your body but hour after hour you feel better and better. They clean your guts from unwanted parasites and bacterias, clean your arteries, remove any plaques from the brain make sure all connections are working properly. It's a maintenance program for our body, just like we have a maintenance program for our car. When the work is done all robots go to the spleen, getting deactivated and leave our body.

Of course there is a risk involved. Like with all technology there are sometimes unpredictable failures and sometimes that technology can be used by criminals to target and kill some individuals.

I gave you food for thought, now you can let your imagination go wild.

2014 Wormfest and Blog Tour

OMG! The 2014 National Wormhole Week is just around the corner. It is hosted by fantastic authors - Stephen Tremp, Alex Cavanaugh and L. Diane Wolfe.

Last year we have traveled through time and space and it was a blast! This year rules are simple - name one thing where science advances mankind, and one where technology will go too far and set us back. They can be the same thing or different.

What to give up...

In Poland priests do not mark our foreheads with ash crosses, instead they sprinkle ashes on our heads.

Ash Wednesday is here, time to give up something! For a change let's give up:
complaining - focus on gratitude
pessimism - become an optimist
harsh judgments - think kindly thoughts
worry - trust divine providence
discouragement - be full of hope
bitterness - turn to forgiveness
hatred - return good for evil
negativism - be positive
anger - be more patient
pettiness - become mature
gloom - enjoy the beauty that is all around you
jealousy - pray for trust
gossiping - control your tongue
sin - turn to virtue
giving up - hang in there!
I think it will make Jesus a happier camper if we gave up all these things instead of rolling in ashes and fasting.
