Hello December!

Beautiful sunny day in the Yukon, though a little chilli I would say... Yeah, who I'm kidding eh? It's f?#@!g cold! Thank goodness I'm working from home and do not have to stick my nose outside. Frosty has very short walks today, believe me.

Would like to know what I was stitching lately? I worked a little on Door Hanger 'Jingle as Ye Enter, Jingle as Ye go' from Victorian Motto Sampler Shoppe
and on the ornament. Here is the front:
and the back:
I'm using lovely silk floss from Carrie's Creation 'Holly Days'.
I also have finish stitching freebie from Plum Street design (scroll down for the link)
For some reason my camera can't grab the right colors, this piece is stitched with a lovely turquoise - it looks perfectly blue on the pic...

And I was making some stitching  plans for the next year. Of course all my WIPs are the top priority but (shh...) I signed up for a couple of SALs: Just Nan and smalls. For smalls I have plenty charts and supplies, for Just Nan I chose 'Queen of the Needle'.
It's a lovely design but I couldn't find recommended fabric. I've bought 28 ct Cashel linen in baby pink but after looking at it it was just too much baby and too much pink...

A while ago I was reading on Nancy's blog about archival inks and decided to give it a try with some pale ochre and sepia color over that baby pink. Here is the result (in real life it's a little bit lighter than on the picture)
So, the floss needs to be put on bobbins and I'll be ready to go when the SAL starts. (Check my right side bar for links to these SALs)

Stitchy weekend update

It was a hermitting weekend and let me tell you, despite beautiful, sunny weather I was hermitting, stitching and seeking vengeance right by the side of the Count of Monte Cristo. Saturday I've got lost in time and stitches. Look, how much I've accomplish:

On Saturday I was going to stitch some more (since I decided to do only one project until it is done) but I realized that July it is almost over and I'm missing my challenge where I've committed to stitch three Christmas ornaments. So far I've done only one and I was 2 behind... Well, I found some red aida (I do not stitch on aida any more so that was asking for a trouble) and decided to use one of the charts that I received on my birthday (there will be a whole birthday wrap up post later, after I finish celebrating). I stitched about 4.5 hours on Sunday and here is the result:

That will be one big ornament... I have no idea what I was thinking...

I love Mondays

And it is Monday! And Christmas Eve is just a few days away, and the celebration time will start! I love Christmas!

I had so many plans for yesterday but did not accomplish even half of them... I hermit and stitched for most of the day. I finished Heart's Secret:

And I found perfect fabric for the back. I think I will make a pillow or should I finish it in some other way? Size of the stitching area is 7" by 7".

I was gonna to work on Pirate Santa but instead I started a new piece (bad, bad Evalina!), an ornament:

and now when I'm looking at it I think it would make a lovely biscornu...

When I took off Hear's Secret from q-snaps I had the urge to start something new... For some reason I can't resist empty q-snaps... (some of you think it's a disorder called startitis). Using my will power I resisted from starting a bigger project and I decided to do something small, something what will not take a lot of time to finish so I still can have Pirate Santa done before Christmas.

So long my friends,
Evalina

IHSW - Saturday

I thought I would accomplish a little more this Saturday... well, I stared my day with visiting other blogs, yahoo groups etc. and before I knew it, it was a lunch time!

Regardless my late start I stitched an ornie that I will try to finish today (actually make an ornament from that stitched piece)

and worked a tiny bit on my Pirate Santa...

Now it is only 7 in the morning and we'll see what a new day will bring...
