The winter is back in the Yukon. The last couple nights temperatures dropped to -20°C (-6°F), today is snowing like crazy... but there is a promise of a Spring by the end of the week... we'll see.
Yesterday I had a nice surprise on the way to work:
A caribou! (the rest of the herd is not visible, it is closer to the bush)
Scene like that reminds me why I live here...
And since I'm so sick and tired of winter ready for spring I put away my Heart of the Valley for a while and started on a tiger, to celebrate Year of the Tiger.
I know that isn't much, just one ear, but look how gorgeous he will look when he is done:
Nothing like a good Caribou sighting on the way to work. Gotta love the North.
ReplyDeleteBe always in stitches.
Such a pretty kitty!! And glad you were able to stop in time so you didn't hit the caribu! It must be great to live where you have real wildlife. We have racoons...yuck
ReplyDeleteOhh... lovely tiger! Nice and bright oranges and yellows.
ReplyDeleteWow... that caribou is so cute! (and I know deadly). Here's hoping for spring soon for you! We don't have spring yet either... snow forecast for tomorrow.
He's going to look wonderful when you've finished him. We've finally got spring started here in the UK, fingers crossed it comes to you soon.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful sight to see in the morning.
ReplyDeleteYour Tiger is going to be stunning. Can't wait to see more.
Sometimes we just need to start something new. Love the caribou picture, so cool that you get to see them and moose too.
ReplyDeleteYes, he will be absolutely gorgeous - nice new start! And I love your pic of the caribou. :)
ReplyDeletewow what a wonderful stitching picture, love it
ReplyDeleteI think you've made a great start on the tiger. And how cool to see caribou :)
ReplyDeleteThis is very nice, Evalina. I think the Year of The Tiger is going to be a great year, too.
ReplyDeleteThat's going to be one majestic looking tiger :)
ReplyDeleteJust had to take that "What Kind of Cat Are You?" quiz on the side bar. Turns out I am a Lynx. I don't sound all that bad. LOL
ReplyDeleteI tried to post a comment on one of your 2010 finishes - I just love that Asian piece with the Buddha. Is it Chinese?
Great start on your tiger.
ReplyDeleteMarl
Your tiger is going to be beautiful and you have a good start. It is cool to see a caribou
ReplyDeleteThat's a great looking tiger, can't wait to see your progress on it.
ReplyDeleteLove the tiger pattern. That is going to be very pretty once finished!
ReplyDeleteCarboo!! I read that and totally had the hillbilly from "The Polar Express" running through my head, lol!!
Great start on the Tiger. I did several wild cat heads on black and they are really stunning! This one will be too! Love the wildlife in the road...hopefully they don't get hit as often as the deer around here do!
ReplyDeleteCan't imagine seeing that sort of thing on the way to work!
ReplyDeleteI have a great tiger design I want to do one of these days as well. I've looked at the one you've started--he will be wonderful!!
LOL running into critters like that must be the norm for you. That tiger will be fantastic when finished!
ReplyDeleteThe Tiger is going to be beautiful! The colors are so rich, regal for such a cat. I look forward to seeing your progress.
ReplyDeleteEvalina, your drive to work offers some neat critters...down my way, it's skunks or raccoons.
