Help!!!!

My "Happy Easter" knob knocker has arrived and I am so disappointed. I love the way it is finished, it looks like the ribbon was made from floss but there is no instructions how to do it....I beg for your help! I know that many of you do wonderful finishes, please help me to find a solution or maybe a substitute...?

So long friends,

  1. I'm sorry but I don't know how to do that trimming by yourself. I think that kind of trimming can be found in fabricstore or something like that? I hope someone else can help you with this.

  2. what a cute design. the trim will probably be prefab and I will take a look when I am out today. That is so annoying. But it will be fabulous no matter how you finish it off...
    Be always in stitches.

  3. I think the trim is a band of some sort used for curtains or something like that. I'm pretty sure you can find something suitable in a fabric store.

  5. The edging looks like the fringe for curtains for chairs. You might be able to find something similar in a fabric store in thier upolstry section.
It looks great how ever you finish it.

  6. You could use this type of ribbon technique. http://genna-crossstitchandcrochet.blogspot.com/2009/07/ruched-ribbon-tutorial.html

  7. I'm a terrible finisher, so I'm no help there but I just wanted to say -- That's really adorable! Hope someone else has a more useful idea ;o).....

  8. It looks a lot like a fringe that you would find in the home decor section of a JoAnns. Like fancy curtain or pillow edgings. Good luck with your search. It really is beautiful the way they finished it off for the pattern.

  9. I've seen that technique before. You take the embroidery floss (all 6 strands together) double the length that you want the hanger. Tape one end to a table with scotch tape and twist the floss tightly with your fingers. Use your other hand to hold the floss in the middle and then bring the other end up to the end that is currently taped to the table. Keep holding it in the middle so it doesn't unwind (this will now be the other end of your ribbon). Release the hand in the middle. The floss will twist nicely. Remove the tape and knot the end.

The best part is, if you mess up, you can always unravel the floss and try again.

  10. Such an adorable Easter knob knocker! I'm afraid I can't help you with your question about the fringe, I'm completely useless when it comes to things like that! lol Thank you so much for visiting my blog, I love meeting new bloggers:-) xox

  11. Evalina, this is beautiful trim and the design is precious. I do believe I recognise this as a factory made fringe as some of the other girls here have commented. You would find this, or something very similar in a JoAnn's or other fabric/craft store. Take the pic with you and ask for help. You'll find something you like. With a design like that, you'll love it!
