"First Loves Blogfest - on May 14, post your first loves – first movie, first song/band, first book, and first person. Four loves, one blogfest!"
Why not, I can tell you about all four...
First movie
Since I was a little girl I was fascinated with aircraft, I never played with dolls - I was making plane models... In my teens I became a glider pilot and when I saw 'The Battle of Britain" it was a love of the first site.
First Song/band - I actually had two...
You've got to see this:
and
that was the beginning of my San Francisco dream. Years later it became a reality..
First book
Ann of Green Gables - by the age of six I new the book by my heart (in Polish!). I learned to read early - my parents were teachers...
I loved it then and I'm loving it now. Even the movie was great!
First person
Oh, my... I still remember... it was a boy in our gliding club. I was so madly in love until he quit gliding, got serious about becoming an engineer and dumped me for a French cuisine... It was Saturday morning when I got the news about his new love, I was heart broken but same Saturday I met my future husband... It didn't last long though - he never learned to fly.
So long my friends,
Evalina
Great posting of the First Loves. Enjoyed reading your story. I remember reading Anne of Green Gables in High School.
ReplyDeleteI liked Anne of Green Gables too and sorry about your first love.
ReplyDeleteI love Anne of Green Gables. I was going to use that too but I knew others came before. Nice to meet you.
ReplyDeleteI didn't participate in this blog fest but it looks like a fun one. I also loved Anne of Green Gables, and my older boy cousin took me to plenty of war movies when I was a kid. I never did learn to fly or glide though. The skies are probably safer if I stick to being a passenger. :D
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome that you did gliding. I still have this impossible goal of becoming a helicopter pilot one day. The air is a great place to be.
ReplyDeleteHi EvalinaMaria. I share many of these firsts, except for the bands. Not heard of these singers. The rest, awesome!

I lived in the SF Bay Area for 19 years and really appreciate that video. Thanks for posting it. Also, thanks for visiting. It's great to meet you through the blogfest.

AH - that film! I remember my Dad taking me to see it at the cinema all those years ago. He'd been in the RAF in WW2 and told me all about the different aeroplanes.
ReplyDeleteFlower-power hit even our tucked-away little Midlands town in the centre of England. It was a time of kaftans, wild and wacky floral prints, flared trousers - and the odd whiff of something unfamiliar being smoked.... :-o
I never read Anne of Green Gables (I was more a 'What Katy Did' kind of girl!) although my daughter fell in love with the tales of Avonlea (and since I've seen the films/videos I can understand why!)
I see that there are lots of bloggers who loved Anne Of Green Gables...
ReplyDeleteI'm not very familiar with these 2 singers you mentioned. One of my favourite singers, Basia Trzetrzelewska, is Polish. I have all her music...
I just saw Battle of Great Britain recently. My husband LOVES this movie. He's a WWII buff. His father is an aeronautical engineer and so he loves all things that fly. I also loved Anne... And I used to cross stitch. I still have a piece to finish, but need the time! I love that you're from Poland. My step-father's of polish descent and has gone to Poland to visit his relatives there. He said it was great, but hurt how much food they heaped upon him and my mother at each visit! In my novel Evangeline's Miracle, one of the main characters is from Poland (in 1878!) and my step-dad helped me out when it came to a crash course in Polish history. I also contacted a man from Poland here in the states who helped me tremendously when it came to "pet names" etc, used in Poland. I learned so much writing this novel and have come to have a great appreciation for Poland's culture and history. Part of the novel is also set in Canada! Thanks for visiting my blog!
ReplyDeleteYou've given me some new things to check out.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing.

You put together model planes? That is too cool.
ReplyDeleteThanks for participating in my blogfest!
Ann of Green Gables was my sister's favorite! I remember she read those books over and over again. What a fond memory. Thx for sharing. :)
ReplyDeleteAw, Anne of Green Gables! I listed to it over and over on casette tape!
ReplyDeleteWhat fun, Evalina. I enjoyed reading your first loves!! Thanks so much for sharing.
ReplyDeleteWow, that jednego song is pretty awesome. They totally Rock 70's style :)

Czeslaw Neimen is awesome! Amazing voice.
ReplyDeleteThere is something about war movies and airplanes. I did love Michael Caine as Canfield.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing.
I have been to many cities in many countries, many times. I have only been to San Francisco twice and as another song suggests I left my heart there, or part of it at least.
ReplyDeleteAnne of Green Gables has a special place in my heart. In third grade and fantasized about being her, and I'm rereading the series now. Loved reading about your first loves.
