May Two-Four

Do you know what May Two-Four stands for? It's a beginning of Canadian summer celebrated with two-four case (or two, or three, or...) of beer!

Well, in the Yukon definitely isn't summer yet and definitely you can't find two-four cases of beer. For some reason stores sell only 6-packs and 12-packs. Oh, I miss Ontario! If you don't have friends you can buy just 18-pack but normally the real case of beer must be 24.

I don't think that too many people celebrate Victoria Day (for sure not in Quebec!) but many go camping and having fun with friends. Not me though... We went for a walk. It's beautiful but way, waaaay to cold for camping. (Some crazy northerners camp but they do not know any better).

Ice on the lake, patches of snow on the beach - Topaz doesn't mind at all!

The crocuses are still blooming,

some kind of yellow beauties were smiling to me

and I even found the first green leaf to be!

I know, pathetic nevertheless, I decided to hermit inside and stitch.  I tried my luck at Brazilian embroidery, I even finished the piece (just the stitching part, I have no idea what to do with it now...)

I also finished 'Great Friends':

Well, weekend isn't over yet, Freddy is just starting the fire (it is so cold today), later he will thru some burgers on the barbeque, and we'll finish the long weekend with Yukon's teenie-weenie 6-pack.

So long my friends,

  1. Lovely pics Evalina. It was great to see where you are. You dog looks so happy (and sandy, lol) on the beach! Grats on the two finishes. They both look wonderful. Hope you enjoy the burgers on the grill. It sounds delicious.

  2. Some great shots Evalina. We have August weather now in Ontario, which is great for the long weekend. Happy May 2-4!

  3. Happy Victoria Day! Loved seeing the photos! Your Brazilian embroidery is beautiful!

  4. what lovely pictures and i think your embroidery is beautiful!

  5. Good luck on finding your case of beer. Beer? Yucko, lol. My Dad used to buy cases of beer directly from the tavern. A few at a time, LOL. (He was thristy, I guess!)

Beautiful embroidery. Maybe you can make it into a little pillow?

  6. Still looks too cold for me too! My favorite beer is Canadian, and I can get it in a case! LOL LaBatt's Blue light LIME!!! Yum!! Your pretty piece would make a nice jar top, or box top!

  7. Of course you stitched, it was IHSW. Check out this blog to see what I'm talking about -

Love the flower - there is something so eye catching about 3D stitching. And the geese are adorable. Well done.

  8. Such beautiful photos - even though it does look a little chilly still! So nice to meet you, Evalina!

  9. Love the pics. So pretty. How funny, I stitched Great Friends back in the late 80's. It turned out great.

  10. Thanks for the giggle. We had a nice balmy weekend here in Southern Ontario. And the Northerners in Sault Ste. Marie had great camping weather at the trailer. Why are you so far away?? We could always use a new friend to help with our 24's hahaha

  11. Beautiful photos. Topaz is so cute. I think you did a great job with the Brazilian embroidery. It's pretty. Congrats on a lovely finish too.

  12. well, ya know, a 2 4 has been upcounted to a 28er in some breweries and goodness knows what they will celebrate next. Love the teenie weenie though. Some of the 12packs are now packed as suitcases and heck if you only want one you can do that too. all 32 oz of
Wish you were able to stitch out side on the weekend but that will come and before you know it you will be across the country in all of it's glory.
    Be always in stitches.

  13. Sounds like a lovely weekend although a bit too cold for me. Love reading about how the start of the seasons are different for different people. Real pretty brazilian embroidery. Hope you enjoyed the burgers and a beverage. Sounds like a great way to wind up the weekend.

  14. What a beautiful part of the world you live in, even if the beer quantity isn't how you like it! Thank you for visiting my blog- visiting all the A-Zers is the hardest part of the challenge I think! :-)

  15. Glad to come by your place! WOW!! You just recently had SNOW?!? I think I would shrivel and die...this girl doesn't do cold well. I like a lovely blanket of white, one day in January, and then I'm ready for it all to melt away and get on with spring and warmer temperatures. I will join/follow you and check in often! If you ever need to thaw out and experience a mild southern spring, come on by the hammock!

  16. Great pictures!

I love your embroidery. :) The flowers especially!

Thanks for coming by and following my blog.

  17. I think I would go bonkers if we had snow in May. I absolutely love that beautiful Brazilian embroidery.

  18. gorgeous photos and the Brazilian stitching is lovely :0 hope you enjoyed your beer and burgers :) love mouse xxxx

  19. Hello

    Beautiful pictures!

I love your Brazillian Embroidery it's so pretty!
Your duck finish is sweet too!

  20. I like this "twenty-four" tradition! Cheers! Enjoy your little six-pack. I'm envying your snow, right now. Just got back from England where it was nice and chilly, back to sunny, sunny California. I need more cold. Being from Africa I'm tired of sun, sun, sun. By the way, I loved that Brazilian embroidery of yours.

  21. Lovely to see new life emerging after a cold winter. As one of the blogs I'm following, I'm nominating you for the Kreative Blogger Award.

  22. Topaz is such a cutie! And he has a white coat - how do you manage to keep it clean?
    Your cross-stitch is gorgeous...

  23. I hate to point this out, but to many of us reading your blog, YOU are one of those "northerners"! LOL, that's usually me, since I live in the Northeast US. But even here we have full leaves, flowers and temps in the 60s and 70s. I'd break down and cry if I saw snow right now.

Canada is beautiful but way too cold for way too long for me.

I'm glad you found me - looking forward to more of your blog!

  24. I am so glad you found me!!
    Your handy work is beautiful.
I am still trying to make my way around that A-Z list...
    Topaz and ZoomZoom are adorable.
Looking forward to my next visit:)

  25. Thank you for stopping by my blog! I wish you the best of luck with your upcoming finals -- and soon you'll be able to read all the books that you want, rather than those boring textbooks.

I'm also Canadian, but I've never heard of May two-four! I live in Vancouver... maybe that tradition just hasn't made its way to us just yet =)

I'm a new follower of yours now too!

  26. All right! I'll bring a 2-4 and my knitting, and come visit. Your embroidery's gorgeous!

  27. sounds like a fun way to hang with family and friends. love the pictures!
