May Monster Madness - Miss Mary Mac

Who was Miss Mary Mac? Was she a monster who brain washed little kids to clap and sing her name? Or was she a lost soul looking for answers? Why are so many kids playing this game and why the song is stuck in my head? We all know the popular lyrics, recently I came across this and I like it!
Miss Mary Mack, Mack, Mack
All dressed in black, black, black
She had a knife, knife, knife
Stuck in her back, back, back
She could not scream, scream, scream
She could not cry, cry, cry
So she begs, begs, begs
She begs to die, die, die.
And I have a stitching chart of Miss Mary Mac. With small alternations it will be my project for tonight. I will stitch Miss Mary Mac, think of her and maybe the answer will come to me by the dawn of the morning...
So long my friends,
Evalina

  1. It's quite gruesome for a children's song, but I love the stitching :)

  2. This is in my stash to stitch up too. Hmmm, I knew I different song for Miss Mary Mack but don't remember all the verses. It had a verse about "with silver buttons buttons buttons, all down her back back back". I will have to ask my kids of they know the rest.

  4. I agree with Robin. I remember the "dressed in black with buttons down her back". Nothing about the knife. I'll have to ask my sisters!

    Nice cross stitching, though!

  9. That graphic is so cute following the morbid song. It must be in the singing...

  10. That's a new version of the lyrics for me. My daughter still does the hand clapping game with Miss Mary Mack, albeit a bit sillier version so I've got this in my stash to stitch one of these days. I was planning to pull it out for the fall, but I may be inspired to start sooner given your post! Thanks for sharing!
