When I close my eyes I can see gorgeous frescoes, sculptures, churches, palaces, and other monuments from the richest cultural flowering the world has known. It would be awesome to to be in a place that Dante, Michelangelo, Galileo, Machiavelli and other great minds called home.
But Florence is not just about the history, it is a center for art exhibitions, festivals, design and fashion shows (just looks at those shoes!)
It's also famous for the great food and wine
Can you guess what I'll be stitching? Guess no more
It's Tuscan Beauty by Mystic Stitch (I have no idea who the painter is)
So long my friends,
Evalina
That evening shot of Florence is so calming. Beautiful. Thank you for sharing.

Florence is number two on my list of places I want to travel to (after London). I studied medieval history in college, so I eventually want to see all the places I spent so much time reading about!
ReplyDeleteI went to Florence three years ago! It is SO beautiful. You're right, the history, food, art, AND fashion is fabulous :) If I ever go back to Italy I will definitely find my way back to Florence.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!

Florence does seem to be one of those places where imagination flourished. It would be a fascinating place to visit. All the best with the stitching project! :)
ReplyDeleteFlorence, so many images. We were there years ago and I still remember it well. You need more time there than just a weekend. Next time. . . .
ReplyDeleteFlorence looks beautiful! I have never been there but would love to some day! Happy A-to-Z 2013! ~Angela, Whole Foods Living, http://www.wholefoodsliving.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteAnother great chart that I don't have. Looks like a great place to visit.

Beautiful pictures of Florence! And I love the cross stitch picture!
ReplyDeleteuntil next time...nel
Lovely cross stitch picture. I always admired the bridge with the houses hanging on it. I wouldn't live there though...but very pretty nonetheless.
ReplyDeleteYour photos are amazing. I really love the first one. It makes me want to visit Florence.

I totally agree...now I want to go there! Great new start!
ReplyDeleteItaly always looks so intriguing!
ReplyDeleteI visited Florence many years ago and just fell in love with it - the food, the art, the people. Thanks for the lovely reminder! :)
ReplyDeleteHappy A-Z!
Beautiful photo. Italy, still a good place to visit.
ReplyDeleteI agree - I LOVE Florence! It's the type of place where I wish I could be a time traveller and just stand in one spot and go back in time to lots of different years and see what was going on around me!

Hello, Evalina! Italy is definitely on my list of must-see countries to visit. I'm not picky about the city! Florence would be wonderful, though.

That's a beautiful yet complex stitch pattern you're taking on. I enjoy cross stitching as well but I haven't done too much of it in the last few years, not since I had my kids. This is kind of off topic, I was reading your profile and I think it's so exciting that you live in the Yukon and that you've been to so many places! I love travelling and although I've been to almost every province (the only exception is Newfoundland), I've never been to the territories. Someday maybe...
ReplyDeleteHave fun with a-z.
I've visited Florence but don't remember seeing it like it looks in that first photo - stunning! I did enjoy it though when I was there :) Saw a Dali exhibition and everything.
ReplyDeleteFlorence is one of the great arts and culture cities of the world. Great photos. Makes me want to go back.
