November - Poppy Month

This coming Fridays is Remembrance Day in Canada and I call a whole month of November a Poppy Month since most of us wear poppies in honor of our soldiers for much longer than just a day.  In my stash I have a lovely poppy biscornu chart from Creative Poppy and what's a better time to make it than now? Last weekend I was able to almost finish the top part:

To tell you the truth the piece is looking much nicer in reality than on the picture (maybe because I was taking this pic late in the evening...) I think it will be the pretties  biscornu I've ever made. I still have to do back stitching and put some beads on this part but I like it already.

This Friday is not only Remembrance Day it is also my 7 anniversary coming to Yukon. It will be my seventh long cold winter... Should I have a giveaway for this occasion? What do you think?

So long friends,

  1. That will be a beautiful biscornu! This Friday in the US is Veterans Day. The Poppy is the State Flower of California (but orange instead of red). Happy Stitching!

  2. I think you should have a give-toward instead of a giveaway, lol, people should be sending you cocoa and mittens. That poppy is so sunny and vibrant, I just love it.

  3. I've been wearing my poppy for over 2 weeks already:-) I like the idea of calling it "Poppy Month"!! That poppy stitching project you've been working on is just gorgeous.

Should I say congratulations on being in the Yukon for 7 years or give you my sympathies? lol We have cold winters here in Northern Ontario but I can well imagine it gets even more frigid over there!!

Have a wonderful week my friend! xoxo

  4. That poppy biscornu is going to be absolutely beautiful. I can't wait to see it finished. And since you mentioned it, sounds like you want to have a giveaway. Congratulations on being in the Yukon for 7 years. I don't think I could have done it. Too cold for me.

  5. Wow! It is a beautiful poppy. If you dont have the giveaway, please tell us the designer so I can stitch it. It will make great gifts to veterans and anyone in the military.
