Finally, my first finish in 2009...

My Asian Scene is all done! It took me a while since I started stitching it on New Years day. Now I have to make a final finish decision. The stitching area is 9” x 13” and I think I will take my Buddha to the framer on Monday… unless… I will have another brilliant idea or maybe someone will offer a suggestion…

I I think that I have made a nice progress last weekend. I'm about 85% done.This time I'm not leaving back stitches to te end, so far I like it.

week in review

Stitching:
I haven't done much... but I did some shopping! I bought floss and now I have every DMC color, many of them in multiple quantity. I also bought stand and more scrolling frames. I had no idea how much easier is to stitch using stand.


Weather:
It is cold, and when I say cold I mean it!


Yesterday morning it warmed up a little and almost felt like a spring... The sun was shining, the roads were dry and in excellent shape and the black spruce looked much greener in the morning sun. Well, that did not last long! With a rapid switch to the north wind temperatures dropped, snow start falling and wind blowing... During lunch hour I decided to go shopping, I went to a car and, to my surprise, it was covered with a half an inch of ice. And after work I drove home in almost blizzard conditions. Today is cold and cloudy with a promise of sunshine later in a day.

Study:
Well, ahead of me is a week full of exams. I'm writing one on Monday, second on Wednesday and the last one on Friday ... Friday the 13th! I hope it will be lucky for me.

the cold is back...

We had a few nice warm days in the Yukon. The temperatures actually reached +10°C. It didn’t last for very long though… Now we are back to those cold, winter days…

and I’m back to studying and stitching. Here is my latest progress on my Asian Scene:

12 days of Christmas... continued

I have no idea where all days have gone. It is already 10th day of Christmas and surly I did enjoy every one of them. On Monday I’m going back to work and everything is going back to normal. It is very cold in the Yukon, yesterday was record low for this winter, -41°C. Last Friday I bought myself seat warmer for the car and what a difference! Instead of sitting on the ice cold seat my butt gets warm and cozy.

And I started on the new project, Asian Scene designed by Nicholas Charles.

For the first time I tried to start stitching from the centre part of the chart and of course I started to stitch it up side down… I noticed my mistake after 3 days of stitching and there was a lot of frogging… Everything would be fine if the rusty background wasn’t pre-printed, but it was, and the 9 characters on the left side are stitched beside that colour square and there was no other way but rip-it, rip-it, rip-it for a whole afternoon. After all I decided to grid part of the fabric and I started my usual way from the top left corner. Here is the new WIP:

12 days of Christmas...

I love Christmas and everything about Christmas. Even though I'm not very religious I do like the traditional magic of this day, a little baby Jesus was born to save us.

The first day of Christmas we started with Mimosa (mix of champagne and passion fruit) and eggs Benedict. Ironically I started to read Pagan Christ by Tom Harpur... and my imagination took me to ancient Egypt. To bring myself back to reality I baked some Hungarian Kifflies (recipe was a compliment of Penny). And my first day of Christmas was very relaxing.

The second day of Christmas I started with Spanish coffee (the one with brandy) and ended with a dinner at neighbours. And, I started a new project... For Christmas I bought myself Asian Scene with Buddha and he was calling my name... so again, poor Frederick is on a back burner...
